Malta gas power station consortium wins award for Best European Energy Project

038_IJ-Awards-2015-11.03ElectroGas Malta, the consortium building the gas power station at Delimara, won the award for Best European Energy Project of the year during the prestigious award ceremony of the IJ Global in London last week.

ElectroGas said in a statement that the awards recognized excellence, achievement and innovation in energy and infrastructure projects around the world. It added that the award ceremony emphasized the increase in successes that Governments enjoyed in the diversification of their economy and energy sources.

The company’s Chief Executive, Franz Doefler, said that such award is an honour both to the company and for Malta.

ElectroGas said it won the award for the building and operation project of the energy plant with the use of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) that generates electricity. It added that the project’s aim is to improve the energy generation in Malta with the CCGT energy plant that has higher efficiency and that will reduce emissions by half and the particulate material by 90%. The company said the project is in an advanced stage of completion.
