Malta is among four EU countries in 2019 to have increased its fuel burning emissions
Malta is one of four countries in the EU which, according to provisional estimates, last year increased its fuel burning emissions. Eurostat statistics show that CO2 emissions in Malta last year increased by 2%.
On average, emissions from EU countries went down by 4.3 % in 2019. Only Luxembourg and Austria registered an increase which is greater than that of Malta.
Eurostat explained that emissions in EU member states depend on a lot of factors including the climate, the level of economic activity and an increase in population.
