Malta is not respected by European institutions – PD

The Democratic Party (Partit Demokratiku) has noted that the equality portfolio given to Malta is not much of an honour and is one of the weakest portfolios ever given to our country.

This was stated by Dr Godfrey Farrugia while adding that Malta will only be dealing with a small part of what was once the social policy portfolio.

In political terms, the PD said that this clearly shows that Malta’s status has gone down, while believing that this portfolio cannot directly influence the important issues which affect our country such as immigration, iGaming, the economy, the environment and trade.

According to the PD, the fact that a few months ago Prime Minister Joseph Muscat was not given an EU post, coupled with this post given to Helena Dalli, are both evidence that. Malta is not respected by European institutions.

The PD added that Malta’ political capital has degenerated because the Government has failed to act on issues which have ended up damaging the country’s reputation.
