UPDATED (2): 76 immigrants landed in Malta

The Armed Forces have once more been involved in another rescue of immigrants in marine territory that falls under Malta’s responsibility.

This evening a total of 76 immigrants were landed by a patrol boat at the AFM Marine Base at Hay Wharf. These included 15 women, some pregnant, and a baby. They had been on board a vessel that embarked from Libya two days ago and earlier in the day called for help after facing difficulties.

After being landed they were conveyed by Police coaches for further investigation by the Immigration Section.
