Malta’s representative pianist starts rehearsals for Saturday’s festival

The Maltese participant at the Eurovision Young Musicians is the youngest person among the representatives of the ten participating countries. Currently, 11-year old pianist Dmitry Ishkhanov is in Cologne, Germany, where today he will start the rehearsals for the festival which will he held next Saturday.

Dmitry was selected as Malta’s representative last June to participate in the festival following a call for musicians by the Public Broadcasting Services.

Dmitry has been living in Malta with his family which is from Moscow for the past eight years. Since starting playing the piano when he was only four years, Dmitry won prestigious musical competitions in Italy, Germany, Belgium and Spain. He also entertained international audiences in big concerts and festivals in New York, Washington, Philadelphia, Paris, Rome and Vienna.

Dmitry will be the second musician among the participants playing in the festival which will be broadcast on TVM on Saturday.
