Maltese police constable dies after successfully completing marathon in Italy

The police community is shocked by the tragic death of Ryan Tonna, the 36 year old police constable and father of a five year old child.

PC Tonna, who worked at the Drug Squad, wa in Pisa, Italy, where he participated in a marathon. Taking to social media after marathon, Tonna expressed his satisfaction at having successfully completed his first half marathon.

TVM is informed that the constable died a few hours ago while eating at a restaurant along with a group of Maltese. It is thought that he choked on a piece of meat.

Those present administered first aid, and even called members of the Red Cross society who were in the vicinity. However, efforts to save the policeman proved futile.

Several people xpressed regret at the sudden death of Constable Tonna, among these the Blue Light Foundation, and the Malta Police Association.
