The Sound of Music film was issued in 1965 with magical music and is remembered mostly for its song ‘Do Re Mi’ sang by children.
Ray Mangion, who produced the same musical years ago, will once again be the artistic director of the local production of the musical. David Borg said that the musical will comprise of a live orchestra of 20 musicians under the direction of composer Paul Abela. 22 children will participate in the musical, including Cristina Magrin, the Maltese representative at the next Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Rachel Fabri will be the principal singer.
Rachel said, “This is an iconic role for me. Julie Andrews is an idol’.
The musical relates to a nun’s story in Salzburg, Austria, who after being assigned the duty of caring to seven children of an Austrian naval officer, who was a bachelor, she ended up being attracted to the man and married him. The musical will be performed at the Mediterranean Conference Centre on the 15th and 16th of October.
