A 58-year-old woman, a resident of Swieqi, died unexpectedly when she was at a restaurant in the Italian village of Ortezzano yesterday evening. The woman was on holiday with her husband and sister and with a number of Maltese persons who were touring small villages in the Le Marche region.
Other persons who were with Anna Pace said they were enjoying dinner and having fun together, when at about 9.30 p.m. they noted the woman move back and collapse.
An ambulance and a medical team were immediately summoned, but the woman was pronounced dead on site. The woman’s remains were transferred to the hospital in Fermo, and are expected to be brought to Malta in the coming hours.
The woman’s children Amy and Owen wrote on Facebook that they are still speechless at their mother’s death, adding that she had passed away peacefully whilst dancing away in Italy. Numerous friends of Anna Pace expressed their shock at the news that a person who was always full of life, much respected and always with a smile on her face had to leave this world so suddenly.
The tour group of which she formed part will be returning to Malta tomorrow.
