Maltese teens place first and third in world beauty contest

Maltese youth Ron Bonsfield managed to make it to the top post in the youth category in a world beauty contest, carrying off the title of Mr Teen Grand Sea Universe. Mr Bonsfield announced that he would be donating the 1,500 euro prize money to cancer victims.

Also qualifying among the top three – Maltese girl Alij Allen, who won third place in the female youths category.

The final session of the contest in Bulgaria was held on 25 June. The contest itself was held to assist Bulgarian cancer victims, with the theme in fact being “beauty with a purpose”.

75 entrants took part in the contest, and the best entrants from every continent and in every category were chosen. The Maltese youth in the finals represented the continent of Europe, and had to compete with a Brazilian youth who was representing South America and a youth from India who was representing Asia.
