Man accused of hit-and-run incident of elderly man remanded in custody

The compilation of evidence started in Court, presided by Magistrate Nadine Lia, against Anees Badroush who is charged with allegedly over running a 69-year old man with his car at Ħal Qormi.

The incident occurred on the 10th January when Badroush – a 29-year old Libyan – hit the elderly man who was operated due to his grievous injuries.

The man’s glasses and a hearing aid were also extensively damaged during the incident.

Defence lawyers Amadeus Cachia and Franco Debono requested the Court to release their client from police custody.

The request was denied due to a lack of affability on the part of the accused and because there are further witnesses to testify, including the victim.
