The Gambian national who is accused of robbing a woman at knife-point at Tal-Pietà has been arraigned in court and remanded in custody.
24-year-old Abubacarr Darbo, unemployed and of no fixed address, is charged with having, on Thursday between 10.00 and 10.15 p.m., placed a knife against the neck of a 27-year-old Colombian woman who was walking in Gwardamanġa Hill, demanding money and stealing her mobile phone. The man was apprehended by the Police some 20 minutes after a report was lodged.
Darbo did not admit to the charges, Defence counsel did not request bail, and the accused was remanded in custody.
Inspectors Lydon Zammit, Stephen Gulia and Roderick Attard prosecuted. Legal aid lawyer Dr Joe Brincat appeared on behalf of the accused.
