Man acquitted of usury and threats charges

In Court, 43-year old Brian Pace was acquitted of a usury charge and of causing fear by violence against the alleged victim.

The case was related to money that Pace loaned to Vincent Axisa in September 2012.

Pace testified that he regularly loaned money to Axisa without problems, except for once when he loaned him Lm12,000 and he was not paid back the amount of €8,200.

Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech concluded that the defence proved its case, while saying that it cannot rely on Axisa’s testimony which wasn’t altogether true.
