Man and woman stand charged with reciprocal domestic violence

A Moroccan woman and a Syrian man were charged in Court separately, both accused of domestic violence. Appearing before Magistrate Joe Mifsud with scratches on their face, both denied the charges. The woman was accused inter alia of slightly injuring the man, damaging his car and breaching the peace. The man was charged with causing the woman serious injuries.

Magistrate Mifsud noted the increase of domestic violence cases which ended up in court and stressed that domestic violence could not be tolerated while conceding that the court often has its hands tied due to the lack of witnesses.

The Court granted the woman bail against a deposit of two hundred Euro and a personal guarantee of five thousand euro and warned her not to make any contact with the man, who was denied bail.
