Man arrested after he allegedly wounded another man in Msida

A Somalian man, aged 31, is being held under arrest in connection with a man who was wounded yesterday in Msida.

At around 10.15pm, an Ethiopian man, aged 36, resident in Msida, entered the Msida police station to report that he had been assaulted by another man with a pointed weapon during an argument at a bar located at Triq il-Makna Tas-Serrar.

The District Police and the Rapid Intervention Unit (RIU) as well as officers from the Anti-Violent Crime Squad within the Major Crimes Unit, went immediately on the scene where the report was confirmed and the search began for the man involved in the aggression. He was arrested shortly afterwards.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Mater Dei and was later certified to have sustained grievous injuries.

Duty Magistrate Charmaine Galea ordered an inquiry and appointed various experts to assist her.
