Man arrested in connection with two thefts

A 31-year-old man, a resident of Ħal Qormi who was being sought by the Police in connection with two hold-ups which occurred in recent days, has been arrested in the past hours.

Intensive investigations by the Violent Crimes Squad within the Criminal Investigation Department have led to the identification of the alleged perpetrator of the two thefts.

The first hold-up occurred on 19 January at about 9.30 p.m. in a shop in Nazju Ellul Street, Gzira. Another hold-up took place on the morrow, 20 January, at about 9.00 p.m. in a similar outlet in Imrabat Street, Tas-Sliema.

Cash was stolen in both hold-ups. However, no one was injured.

The man is expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow.
