Man arrested on suspicion of six hold-ups from shops

The Police have arrested a 39-year-old man from Marsa suspected of having carried out a series of robberies from shops in the last two weeks.

The arrest was made by the Violent Crimes Unit within the Department of Criminal Investigations over the weekend between Saturday and Sunday.

The man will be arraigned in Court later today in front of Duty Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo.

He was charged on more than 20 counts,  including carrying out six hold-ups between 7 and 16 January of this year. Two of the hold ups took place in Qormi, two in Sliema,  one in Gzira and anther in Iklin.
