Man charged with spate of thefts from Gżira, Ħal Qormi and Ħamrun

A drug abuse problem landed a man in Court after he was accused of a spate of thefts from retail outlets in Gżira, Ħal Qormi and Hamrun.

Wayne Delia, 34, was also accused of causing wilful damage to one of the establishment.

Delia was apprehended by Police after he was caught on CCTV cameras at one of the establishments he stole from.

Delia was also charged with possession of cocaine, cannabis and heroin and of violating the bail conditions of an unrelated case. He denied all charges against him.

The Court acceded to the Defence’s request that the accused be sent to the Forensic Unit at Mount Carmel Hospital to receive the necessary treatment.
