Man cleared of assaulting a drunken foreigner

A man who nearly killed a drunken man outside an entertainment establishment was cleared by the Court on self-defence reasons.

Shaun Demicoli was accused of grievously injuring Tunisian Riadh Mrad, who assaulted the accused after a carnival party in Birżebbuġa in 2014.

The court heard witnesses recount that Mrad was not invited for the party and was ordered to leave the building after he even threatened one of the guests of stabbing her. The Tunisian had ended up in hospital and was in a critical condition for a number of days.
