Man held under arrest charged with series of shop hold-ups

Justin Camilleri, who has a drug problem and does not have a fixed address, was arraigned in Court charged with violence and aggravated robbery from three shops.

He pleaded guilty to the 14 charges against him, which included carrying a knife without a licence, of driving a stolen car with fake registration plates and of being a relapser.

The robberies were carried out at shops in Santa Venera, Birkirkara and San Gwann.

The Court presided over by Magistrate Audrey Demicoli, will be handing down the sentence on Friday while the accused is being kept under arrest.
