A 52-year old man from Birżebbuġa, who works in a pastizzerija near the Ħal Luqa church is in critical condition after he was stabbed in the neck by a 44-year old man, also from Ħal Luqa. The incident occurred at around 11.00 this morning.
Sources told TVM that the reason for the stabbing incident between pastizzar Nicky Vella and the aggressor Gordon Cutajar is not yet known, however it appears that both men knew each other and when the stabbing occurred, the wounded man crossed the road with blood on his body and entered the Police station requesting assistance, while the aggressor waited for him outside the police station with a knife in his hand.
When the aggressor noticed Police officers coming out of the station to arrest him, he ran away with a car. He was arrested a few minutes later at his home in Triq Tumas Galea at Ħal Luqa.
The wounded man was given first aid by two police until an ambulance arrived and took him to hospital where he was certified to be in critical condition.
Magistrate Joe Mifsud appointed a number of experts for the inquiry, while the Police are investigating the case.
