Man released after hitting wife in the head with laptop

Simon Cauchi, 39, who lives in Rabat appeared in Court charged with hitting his wife on the head and face with his laptop.

Cauchi pleaded guilty to all the charges against him and of causing slight injuries to his wife, as well as to threatening her, and causing her great fear.

The. Court found that this was the second time in five months that Cauchi had raised his hands on his wife.  The Court found the accused guilty and warned him that it would release him on condition that he would not commit another crime in a period of two  years while ordering a protection warrant for the victim.

The Court, presided over by Magistrate Rachel Montebello, ordered the accused to pay the fine of €2,329.37.
