Man sentenced to 10 months jail after being caught with firearm in Għargħur
Daniel Briffa from Birkirkara was sentenced to 10 months in jail after last week he was caught carrying a firearm.
He was arrested in Gharghur after he was stopped because of his reckless and and dangerous driving, and was found to have a gun on his person. He pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
The Court ordered his driving licence to be suspended for three months, for his gun license to be suspended for five years and for his gun to be confiscated. It was noted that Briffa also has a police record and failed to fully co-operate with the Police by refusing to answer their questions about his gun during the investigation.
Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech also said that the Police did not carry out further investigations into the amount of gold which the accused had on him, which was estimated at a value of €25,000.
