The Police have spoken with a 62-year-old man from Birżebbuġa in connection with reports of a minor being in possession of a hunting shotgun.
At about 7.15 a.m. yesterday, Police officers from the Environmental Protection Unit (EPU) were informed by members of the Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS) that an under-age person was in possession of a firearm in the area of Triq il-Brolli, Birżebbuġa.
The Police officers proceeded to the indicated area, but the persons involved had already left.
Following an analysis of video footage and other investigations, EPU officers identified the adult suspect who had been accompanying the minor at the time.
The Police proceeded to the man’s residence and confiscated the firearm which had been in the minor’s possession.
The man is expected to be arraigned in Court in connection with this case, and Police investigations are ongoing.
