Managed to stop car his mother was driving after she suffered a stroke

In England, an 8-year old  boy from Colchester, Ben Heder, managed to avoid a tragedy when his mother suffered a stroke while driving.

Lauren Smith was driving a Ford Ka with a 60km speed in a major road in Colchester when all of a sudden she had a stroke and lost consciousness.

The mother said that Ben acted immediately by grabbing the steering wheel and guided the car at the side of the road. He switched on the hazard lights and waited until the car stopped by itself. He then tried to contact the emergency through his mother’s mobile, however he was immediately assisted by persons who were passing by and noticed the small boy trying to help his mother.

Smith, who had never suffered a stroke before, expressed her pride that in that situation her son remained calm and acted swiftly. She said she is still alive because of her son’s action.
