Maintenance works on common parts of 77 social accommodation blocks in 16 localities

The Housing Authority will be financing €430,000 for maintenance works on the common parts of 77 blocks of social accommodation throughout 16 localities.

Through the scheme that is to be managed by Local Councils, an administrator for each block will be appointed and will identify the needs of occupants regarding common parts.

The Minister for Social Accommodation, Roderick Galdes, said the Government has invested over €1.5 million over six years so that to improve the quality of life for residents.

Housing Authority CEO, Leonid McKay, said the scheme is another link in a chain of initiatives to enable Government accommodation blocks to be modernised and includes the installations of lifts.

The scheme has been launched in Vittoriosa with Mayor John Boxall expressing his appreciation that many local families in housing blocks will obtain benefits.
