Marsaxlokk LC warns it will take action if market sellers and establishments do not observe measures

Marsaxlokk local council has warned that it will take the necessary decisions if market sellers and restaurant owners do not observe the mitigation measures against Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement, the council said that some 60,000 persons used to visit Marsaxlokk each Sunday for shopping at the open market, to eat in restaurants and for swimming in bays.

While it recognised that this amount of people most probably will decrease from next Sunday as vulnerable persons remain at home and there are no tourists, the Council however stressed that the residents’ health and those who visit the village is a priority and therefore each mitigation measure requested by the authorities should be observed.

Referring to the market, the Council mentioned the importance of the required space between stalls and the amount of persons who may gather in front of them. It added that restaurants have also to adhere to measures requested from them.
