Between yesterday and today, Sunday, residents of Mellieħa and Żejtun managed to plant, between them, no less than 215 trees and shrubs.
Mellieħa Local Council celebrated World Children’s Day yesterday with a clean-up and planting of 90 indigenous trees near the Armier coast. the activity was organised by the locality’s Local Council in collaboration with the Children’s Commissioner and Environment Malta, with the latter providing all the trees for planting.
Meanwhile, this morning Wirt iż-Żejtun in collaboration with the Local Council planted 125 trees and shrubs in the locality. The planting was carried out in Wesgħet l-Għajn tal-Bhejjem, where numerous trees were lost during a February storm. The trees were planted after the society asked the Council to be allowed to look after the area. The trees were donated with assistance from the Grow 10 Trees Project and Friends of Villa Frere.
