Michel Platini resigns as UEFA President

A Court of Arbitration for Sport has reduced the suspension from football of Michel Platini, UEFA President, from six years to four years.

After the sentence was announced, Michel Platini, 60, who had filed an appeal for the ban to be overturned, said that he would be resigning as President of UEFA.

Last year, Platini and the former President of FIFA Sepp Blatter, were found guilty of corruption of “disloyal payment”

They both denied doing any wrongdoing.
