Michela advances two places after error found in final Eurovision placings
Michela has advanced two places in the final Eurovision classification after it was revealed that a mistake had taken place in the final accounting. Michela has now placed 14th rather than 16th.
An official statement released by the European Broadcasting Union, said the vote of the Belarus Jury had been cancelled after their Semi-Final vote was revealed and showed the vote had not taken place in line with EBU Regulations.
Therefore, in the Final, the EBU took approximate results from countries that had voted in a similar manner, to replace the votes of the Belarus Jury. It said this calculation had been approved by Ernst & Young.
However, after evaluation of the routine, the EBU said the wrong approximate result had been taken as a result of human error. Therefore the result had to be re-arranged.
The mistake did not affect the televoting result of the 41 countries and did not affect the winner and the first four songs.
Meanwhile, the song ‘Chameleon’ went viral on Spotify and is now third-placed in the world classification.
