PBS is the official station for the transmission of UEFA Euro 2020, so much so that two days ago it began transmitting a daily analysis, thus paving the way for the most prestigious tournament in European football.
With presentations by Joanna Camilleri and Mark Attard, Sandro Micallef will lead technical analysis with the participation of Stephen Azzopardi, Steve D’Amato, Saviour Darmanin and Vince Carbonaro.
Head of TVM Sports, Peter Cossai, said that preparations have been long ongoing by TVM Sports so that once more the national station will offer a football spectacle for all football fans that follow this most popular sport.
He said matches will be on TVM2 except on days, such as the third day, when several matches will be played simultaneously. In such instances a main match will be featured on TVM2 with a match classed to be secondary on TVM but all these will be transmitted on both TVM channels with the greatest UHD quality and state of the art productions, including graphics.
PBS Executive Chairman, Mark Sammut, said that PBS acquired exclusive rights from UEFA for the transmission of Euro 2020 and this amounts to hundreds of thousands of euro.
He said that basically PBS has exclusive rights in Malta to transmit the 51 matches which fans can watch at home on TVM u TVM 2 and in fact anywhere but it has to be kept in mind that TVM and TVM 2 have the exclusive right to transmit these encounters.
Minister Carmelo Abela, who is responsible for public broadcasting, praised the commitment of PBS employees in their professional approach to make this spectacle available to the public.
He said that as a national broadcasting station PBS has certain obligations to transmit such events of national interest, even at a cost, but one has to appreciate the efforts of PBS employees for providing this service to the public and in particular to football enthusiasts.
The UEFA Euro 2020 tournament kicks off today and there will be daily transmissions up to 11th July.
