Mixed reactions towards summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un

Following yesterday’s historical summit between the leader of North Korea Kim Jong Un and American President  Donald Trump, the Pentagon gave its assurances to US allies that Trump’s decision to cancel American military exercise in South Korea will not compromise security. The military exercises involve around  30,000 soldiers from the Guam military base.

The Pentagon issued this reaction as US allies are seeing Trump’s decision to be a major concession to North Korea. On his part,  Kim Jong Un promised that he would be halting his nuclear programme and also promised to visit the US. The North Korea leader also invited Trump to visit his country, an invitation which was accepted.

The reactions to this summit, however, have been mixed.
