Month-long activities for small and medium enterprises during SME Week

Minister Chris Cardona has launched a week dedicated to small and medium enterprises – SME Week 2016 – which will be spread over nearly a whole month, between 30 September and 28 October, in order to be more accessible to interested parties.

20160919_113124Minister Cardona pointed out that small and medium enterprises represent 99.9% of businesses in the Maltese Islands, and account for 78% of jobs. This, he added, was thanks to these same businesses, many of which possess the ingredients necessary to make a success of their businesses, and as a result of which they also make a success of the economy.

Minister Cardona said economic growth is spurred by two factors: a strong increase in private consumption, and a substantial growth in investment.

A number of discussions will be held during SME Week, among them on digital skills, the role of artisan work, and women’s entrepreneurship in the labour sector of businesses.
