Movember: men must remember the importance of self-testing

Close to 200 4×4 vehicles took part in the first edition of Movember 4×4 Rally which was held in conjunction with an awareness campaign about prostate and testicular cancer. Mrs Michelle Muscat on behalf of the Marigold Foundation inaugurated the rally.

During the month November, the Marigold Foundation is raising an awareness campaign about prostate cancer, Movember. On Sunday morning, car owners and enthusiasts gathered in Birżebbuġa with Mrs. Michelle Muscat to take part in the Movember 4×4 rally. The route of this rally began near the Freeport and ended up in Hondoq ir-Rummien in Gozo.

About 200 4×4 car participated in this activity, and the funds raised will go toward a campaign to raise awareness among men about prostate cancer and testicular disease.

We asked the men who were present for the rally if they are aware of the importance of testing.

In Malta every year there are around 20 cases of testicular cancer. Results of a survey carried out last month showed that two out of three men in Malta do not know how to check themselves for signs of cancer.
