MUMN says that there are not enough trained nurses for the prepared ITU beds

Nurses and Midwives Union, MUMN, referred to the fact that at Mater Dei hospital there are 75 beds at the ITU ready to receive Covid-19 patients, while there are 25 at the Gozo General hospital.

MUMN stated that it is not the amount of beds that is important, but also the specialised nurses who are with them. It said that currently there are not enough trained nurses for this amount of beds.

The union expressed its concern about the increasing amount of Covid-19 cases and appealed to the public to observe social distancing, wash hands frequently and wear masks. It also appealed to the government to consider further measures adopted by other countries in Europe.
