Musician plays guitar during operation on his brain

A South African jazz musician played the guitar whilst an operation was being carried out on his brain.

Musa Manzini remained awake during the six-hour-long operation he underwent to be able to continue using his hands.

This decision was taken in light of his musical career.

The operation was carried out last week at the Chief Albert Luthuli Hospital in Durban.

Musa is suffering from brain cancer, and appears to be recuperating slowly after the operation.
