MUT says it will not accept any intimidation by Ministry of Education

The President of the Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) Marco Bonnici said that he will not accept any intimidation by the Ministry of Education.

He said this while speaking to the media shortly after the Ministry of Education filed an injunction in Court so that the MUT will be prevented from resorting to industrial action.

According to the MUT, on Saturday the Ministry contacted a number of teachers whose work is specialised in various educational sectors, so that from Monday they will start teaching in primary schools where there is a shortage of around 150 teachers.

Bonnici said that he has spent the whole summer asking the Ministry for information about what will happen this academic year because of the Covid-19 protocols, but was kept in the dark.
