Minister Michael Falzon said that the Government is helping Caritas with €3.3 million for the building of the centre which when it starts operating will also receive €750,000 per year.
Archbishop Charles Scicluna thanked the Government for helping Caritas. He said that this was an investment in society and a show of trust.
Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that this project shows that the Government and the Church can work together for the good of society.
The land was given to Caritas by the Government for 25 years. The centre will be able to accommodate 20 adolescents and will include many facilities and open spaces.
