New law on Trade Marks expected soon

Economy Minister Chris Cardona has announced the enactment within three weeks of a new law on Trade Marks, which will strengthen the powers of the Trade Department.

Dr Cardona stated that trade marks from Malta are again inreasing this year, after having registered a 37% increase last year over the previous year. Five persons, most of them Maltese, this morning won an award for intellectual property after managing to create innovative products or services.

Innovative products included a method for cancer, particularly bowel cancer, to be identified at a much earlier stage. Other Maltese scientists managed to create equipment through which one can monitor diabetes far more efficiently, whilst other artists created an Animated Story with the am of promoting and explaining Maltese history in a more animated manner.
