New open space inaugurated in Dingli

The Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg has inaugurated a new open space equipped with facilities and parking near the football ground of Dingli Swallows FC. The work was carried out at an investment of €600,000 by the Department of Public Works.

During his visit, Minister Borg said that €120,000 went towards building a large reservoir to store water which will be used to irrigate the trees in the area. He said that the car park will take 25 cars, with some of the spaces having charging pillars for electric cars. He explained that this area is now accessible through ramps and paving surfaces which are suitable for people with a disability.

Minister Borg explained that the main aims of this project was to change an open space which had been abandoned near the football ground, which used to ruin the aesthetic appearance of the area, into a new open space for the Dingli community. The area which is flanked by Triq Ġużè Ellul Mercer, Triq il-Mediterran, Triq Carmelo Buġeja and Triq Pawlu Ebejer measures around 2000 metres squared.
