Next electoral commitment probably for 25 May 2019

The Maltese electorate will be called upon, on 25 May next year, to elect six Euro Parliamentarians as well as Councillors for all localities in Malta and Gozo.

This follows the European Parliament’s decision that elections in EU countries have to be held between 23 and 26 May.  The European Parliament has thus confirmed the Council’s proposal.

In Malta, besides the election for the appointment of six MEPs, the election will also take place for councillors in the 68 Local Councils, which for the first time will all be held on the same day as the European Parliament election every five years.
