Confirmation of one new case of coronavirus in Malta, with the total number of active cases so far standing at 306.
During her media conference on the actual Covid-19 situation in the country, Public Health Superintendent Charmaine Gauci also announced that another 19 persons had recovered from the virus. Professor Gauci added, however, that these persons would still remain in quarantine. A total number of 118 persons have recovered so far from the virus. This leaves 306 active cases.
Professor Gauci explained that the ages of the recovered persons range between 20 and 80, and one of them, a female, had been recovering at the Gozo General Hospital. Professor Gauci stated that 14 of the recovered patients are males.
The Superintendent further stated that 787 swab tests were carried out yesterday, from which it resulted that a 29-year-old Serbian woman had tested positive for the virus. 24,022 swab tests have been carried out to date.
Referring to patients in the ITU, Professor Gauci stated there are still two patients in the Unit, and both are in a stable condition.
In reference to the Ħal Far open centre, Professor Gauci declared that 20 tests had been carried out, all of which were negative.
The Superintendent appealed for the public to maintain a high degree of care and to follow the directives of the health authorities and remain indoors.
