25 properties at Sliema, many of whom have neo-classic characteristics, were scheduled by being granted a protection status by the Planning Authority.
The buildings, situated in two different areas with the same height, size and style, were given a grade 2 protection status. The properties were built towards the end of the 19th Century and the beginning of the 20th Century.
20 of the properties are situated in the St Patrick school area, in Triq Dun Mikiel Rua, Triq Ġuze’ Howard, Triq Poutiatin Tabone and Triq San Ġwann Bosco. The others are situated in Triq il-Katidral and Triq San Pawl.
Some of the properties have particular characteristics, including a front garden.
NGO organisation, Flimkien għall-Ambjent Aħjar welcomed the scheduling of these properties, saying it will continue with its efforts to safeguard the historical heritage.
