Painting of Christ en route to Abu Dhabi

Salvador Mundi, the painting thought to be the work of Renaissance painter Leonardo da Vinci, is on its way to the Abu Dhabi Louvre.

According to reports in the international media, this painting was bought at auction by a Saudi Prince for the sum of $450 million.

The new museum at Abu Dhabi was built and completed over a ten-year period at a cost of one billion pounds sterling. Some 600 pieces of art are exhibited at the museum, and another 300 are on loan from France. The Abu Dhabi Louvre paid out hundreds of millions of dollars for these items, as well as for administrative advice and for use of the name The Louvre.
