Pakistan mourns the killing of more than 70 people, including 29 children

Pakistan mourns the killing of more than 70 people, including 29 children, in the suicide attack at a park in Labore. 340 other persons were wounded, including 25 who are in critical condition.

The regional government announced three days of mourning. Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif has visited some of the wounded in hospital and met with security officials to discuss the situation. The authorities have, meanwhile, arrested 50 persons as part of their investigations, including three brothers of the youth who carried out the suicide attack.

A Taliban affiliated group, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, claimed responsibility for the attack that targeted Christians celebrating Easter. This group was previously linked to militants of the group calling itself the Islamic State. The attack was the bloodiest so far against Christians in Pakistan since an explosion at a Church in Peshawar, three years ago, left more than 80 people dead.
