Palumbo dockyard owners sentenced to six years imprisonment in Messina – will appeal sentence
Palumbo dockyard owners in Malta – Antonio Palumbo and his son Raffaele, were sentenced to six years in prison after they were found guilty by a Court in Messina of illegally dumping dangerous waste.
The two Naples entrepreneurs are among seven persons found guilty that between 2011 and 2013 they disposed of tons of chemicals used in vessels maintenance.
A spokeswoman for Palumbo company said they will appeal the sentence, adding that the verdict does not affect their investment in Malta. Lawyers of Palumbo family stated that the judicial process was vitiated while prosecutors failed to prove and verify the charges brought against them.
