Part of ceiling at London’s Piccadilly theatre collapses

A number of people were slightly injured yesterday evening after part of the ceiling of Piccadilly theatre in London collapsed.

When the incident happened at 8pm, the theatre was packed for a performance of Death of a Salesman.

Around 1,000 people who were in the theatre had to be evacuated. Construction works are currently taking place in the theatre.

The latest serious incident of this kind at a London theatre happened in 2013, when 76 people were injured, some of them seriously, after the ceiling at the Apollo theatre collapsed.
