Passenger stopped at airport after more than €200,000 discovered in his suitcase
Last night a passenger was stopped at Malta’s airport after it was discovered that he was carrying more than €200,000 undeclared cash in his suitcase.
The passenger, who was in possession of a Maltese passport but is resident in Manchester, was traveling to Istanbul.
The total sum of money found on the passenger amounted to €200,192. €10,000 of this was returned to him but the rest of the money was confiscated by Customs officials.
The passenger is being held under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Court today.
