Passengers evacuated from cruise liner in Norway

Some 1,300 passengers are being evacuated from a cruise liner off the coast to the west of Norway. Norwegian police said that the cruise liner faced engine problems and therefore an operation was underway to transfer the people on board on land.

Norway’s department of rescue workers at sea said that the MV Viking Sky sent an SOS request and a rescue operation immediately start amid very rough sea and strong wind.

Five helicopters and a number of vessels are involved in the evacuation of the passengers.
