PD calls for revision of rural policy

The Democratic Party said that it will write to the Parliamentary Committee on Environment and Planning so that the rural policy of 2015 is placed on the agenda for its immediate revision and amendment.

The party referred in a statement to an application for an ODZ development at Wied il-Kbir in Ħal Farruġ, limits of Luqa.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party deputy leader Timothy Alden appealed to the Government to protect a piece of land in Triq P. Xuereb at Pieta’ due to its historical heritage. Speaking at a press conference, he stated that a building permit for around 40 apartments was issued in the area.

Mr Alden said that this remaining unique agricultural land at Pieta’ includes a World War II shelter, together with an old building which experts say is over 200 years old.
