Just a few days away from Father’s Day, singer-songwriter Philip Vella has just published a song entitled Pa, for which he wrote both the music and lyrics.
Although it is not the usual sound we have come to expect from Philip, the message is very direct and makes the listener stop and think.
“I know it’s late, very late….but I want to see you,” says Philip in the lyrics. Pa is the third song to be released from the album 60+, a collection of original songs, which will be released shortly. In fact it follows Il-Verità, the winning song from L-Għanja tal-Poplu 2019 and Rajt Raġel which came to life during the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The song is written in the form of a letter addressed to his father, and although he does not know whether he is hearing him, he wants him to know that he is proud to be following him in his footsteps.
From these three songs, it is easy to see that Philip is working on a sound which is more thoughtful, and with deep meaning lyrics. It will be interesting to compare it with the rest of the collection in the album. Pa is produced by Sean Vella, and digitally produced by the German company CAP-Sounds and is being promoted by Ironic PR & Artist Management.
